Due to the Xirrus Array's directional antenna system, the Xirrus solution uses up to 75% less hardware than a traditional Wi-Fi solution. This equates to a large reduction in manufacturing time and energy expenditure. There are further environmental savings in resource usage, particularly in heavy metals and plastics. There is also a substantial saving in other metals and plastics because Xirrus requires 75% less network and electrical cabling. Furthermore, during the systems proposed life cycle of 5 years or more, the Xirrus system uses up to 30% less power.

Other environmental advantages include Xirrus' modular design. This allows customers to unplug and exchange small parts of the array (to accommodate future changes to Wi-Fi industry standards) without having to dispose of the entire hardware asset base. Ultimately Xirrus offers a simpler, more efficient solution for deploying Wi-Fi and this means environmental savings in every aspect.
