VIDEO: Xirrus Improves Student Wireless Connectivity at Manor Lakes P-12 Specialist College
Xirrus®, the Wi-Fi "Power Play" that delivers the most coverage, bandwidth, and user density in the industry, announced today their deployment of Xirrus high performance 802.11n Wi-Fi Arrays campus-wide at Manor Lakes P-12 Specialist College, located in Victoria, Australia. Opened in 2009, this unique college solved their campus-wide connectivity issues by upgrading to Xirrus Wi-Fi Arrays. Growing at a rapid pace, Manor Lakes P-12 Specialist College needed a wireless network robust enough to eventually support over 2,500 primary, secondary, and specialist students moving towards 1:1 learning.
When asked why the school replaced their existing Wi-Fi network with Xirrus, Helen Otway, Assistant Principle at Manor Lakes P-12 Specialist College, stated, "We've had Wi-Fi installed in the school…but it wasn't solving our problems of connectivity across the whole college. It was great for short term…but once we had all the kids up and running on the laptop program, all 120 of them, all in the one building, it just didn't cut it."
Describing her decision to upgrade to Xirrus, Helen continued on, "We heard about Xirrus and how it can actually connect so many users at the one time…it just really sold the Xirrus to us, because we wanted our kids to be connected. We don't want students dropping in and out when they are trying to learn, that's very frustrating and we certainly don't get students dropping in and out now. Xirrus just works for us the whole time, which is really good."
